Grammar anyone?
by Fatfreek ini posted something earlier today and wasn't real comfortable with my sentence construction.
so here are two sentences for you.
is either not correct?
-
John Doe
"ponder this, Was is singular and were is plural; therefore, I was there, and we were there."
Yes, but as pointed out, when using the subjunctive mood, the plural construction is used regardless of the subject. So, "were" is the correct word in a "prescriptive" or "standard" grammar sense, whereas "was" is the "actual" grammar that seems to be most common, in my experience.
Ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put. ;-)

What is something that you consider attractive, and unattractive?
by free2beme inin human sexuality, we all have things that turn us on and things that turn us off, things that attract us and things that don't.
often people think it is all about what you see in advertising, but often it is smaller things we think less of and yet it dominates our sex drive.
for example, in a case study we did, we found that a lot of people would immediately answer things like "eyes" or "legs" and yet as we drove deeper into their answers, we found that eyes and legs were not what attracted people.

Intelligence combined with a positive but realistic attitude and a penetrating, completely uninhibited or self-aware smile is my biggest turn-on. You know, the smart girls who give you a look like they're looking right through you and act as if they're enjoying it. I don't think you can capture this in photos--it's more of an aura that must be witnessed in person, and only after interaction. I've seen few like this. Well, there's my daily dose of bs. ha ha

Yes. My babtism was the biggest factor preventing me from letting the religion go. I take any promise I make extrememly seriously, and it still bothers me that I made that one. However, I believe I've done the right thing. Basically, I came to the dichotomy of either being false to the things I'd learned and come to realize, my friends, family, and myself by keeping my promise, and abandoning my dedication to be as honest a person as I can be. I find it ironic that I maintain my integrity by breaking a promise, but life doesn't always make sense.

"mrs jones you havent a clue who i am.for your information im very humble dont claim to no me over a computer.mrs jones as soon i as i came on this website and you found out i was a jw.you gave me a hard time wanting to prove im wrong.so dont complain when i stand up for what i beleave"
How many times must a humble man say he's humble? Shouldn't humility be self-evident?
Here is the fundamental problem I have with Jehovah's Witnesses. I'm not putting you down, and I'm not claiming to be 100% right, but I am making a point. How can a religion be loving that separates families (wait, I'm not through, keep reading) when some family members refuse to lead double lives and be untrue to their conscience? That's what it boils down to. If I don't believe what the congregation tells me to believe, I'm supposed to keep quiet and pretend I do believe. I'm not supposed to question, I'm supposed to be false to my conscience. I do not believe what the Witnesses teach, and according to them this makes me evil and unfit for association. They would have my own mother, my flesh and blood, deny even speaking to me. Does this sound like humility, PMJ?

How much do you pay for your internet service?
by JH ina few years ago, i had dial up internet with netrover, and cost about 18$ a month, unlimited use.
but it was slow.. then i had videotron here in quebec, low speed internet (cable) for about 29$ a month which was about 3 to 4 times faster than dial up.
now i upgraded it to high speed for about 45$ a month plus tax of course.

I don't pay anything for mine. There's a wirelss setup somewhere close to here, so I just use that. I can typically download a megabyte file in 6 seconds.
